Temple.Works.Leeds structural repairs

The Main Space is undergoing significant stonework repairs at the moment, and the air is thick with heritage dust. Strangely, it looks much like the set for Frankenstein’s Wedding that the BBC created here in February…

THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF…

We will discover the answers to absolutely everything. We will be none the wiser. We will lose the ability to tie our own shoe laces.

Together, we will experience manic highs, bizarre and unique bursts of energy, we will all be God for a bit, then a bit bloody irritable, and then something worse….

much much worse…

This site specific event fuses drama, film, live music, design and art installation into an assault on the senses that will take us all on a journey, bizarre, funny, poignant, confusing, painful and loud… a journey to where only a very select few would normally go. Into complete mental breakdown.

Join us at 7.30pm and

take your pick of dates and places!

Secret film shoot . . . shhh!

Here’s a few pics from a very busy week. Can’t say too much about it as I have been sworn to secrecy . . . let’s just say it was a bit of a monster project . . . and the pics give it away if you look carefully enough.

This is my favourite shot I think. Susan must have taken it from the old manager’s office. Those two guys were the first to turn up and the last to leave, 12 hour days to build the set . . .

. . . and here’s where they based themselves all week. The Joiners makes a great workshop.

Setting up the shoot on Thursday morning . . . the beginning of a long day!

So much Heras fencing and security tape . . . wouldn’t want anyone to wander, would we!

But just what the heck are they building in there?

As this was a very special project we allowed them to film in places not many people get to see, such as . . .

all for this . . . recognise anyone? It was getting dark and was hellishly windy and wet up there. Who’d be an actor!

The shoot carried on well into the early hours. Perishing cold and howling gales didn’t stop them . . . the show must go on and all that . . .

It wasn’t only the Main Space. Odd things were going on in the Boardroom too . . . check that candelabra (is that really how you spell it?)

Finally a random picture, again taken by Susan . . . I know not why, but it’s a nice composition of cone and cable . . .

Tent . . . another video.

And, as we are on the subject of videos, here’s my own two penn’oth . . . well, somewhat of a collaboration. Will fill in the details tomorrow . . .

Volunteer Day Pics.

On Thursday November 25th a team of  29 staff from the Department of Health (well to be precise we believe they were from the DOH’s Social Care, Local Government and Care Partnerships Directorate Area 113 WEL Unit) came to Temple Works. As part of their briefing day, they each donated 4 hours of voluntary labour to TW, engaging in tasks that ranged from street cleaning and litter picking, suspended ceiling removal and rickshaw cleansing to furniture photo shoots, data entry, architectural surveying and mobile platform building…all in TW’s usual seasonally adjusted sub-zero climate. The day was great fun and gave all the usual TW suspects a real boost to have such incredibly hardworking, cheerful and warm people on site to provide body heat; not to mention  all of the work that got done. In a burst of pre-Christmas philanthropy, the LCC Services department loaned TW 15 litter-picking devices to  help the volunteers create a spotless pavement: negotiations are underway for LCC to return the favour in labour terms at a later date!
